my first adobe illustrator typography work/practice, still learning! Lyrics/translated from a song by mucc since I'm gonna go see their gig tomorrow, oct 7th
Really good idea! We had same kind of practice in our class, butt I have to say that your piece kicks the snot out of mine. Beautifull work. I really like how theres lyrics in the middle of the butterfly and how the lyrics break that grey line that ends at the butterfly.
Wow...This is a very good typography. I love how it looks like there is a butterfly within the butterfly. Not to mention typography is always better when the words/letters used are significant/meaningful. ^___^
Lol, I'm actually doing my type project right now.
The only thing that feels really off to me is the word ENDS. Because of the period, the bottom shape seems a little lopsided when everything else is centered. It really just... pops out and seems to throw off the rest of the piece.
Other than that, I really like it. The negative space between the wings is really nice.
Thi isn't even quite done yet, I thought I was, but now we are assigned to animate this thing in flash, FFFHHH :'D our graphic technology course's been pretty intense so far, I just about learned how to make a document in illustrator yesterday, made this and today I'm supposed to learn how to animate this in flash.
aahh I see, the spacing in the text above was really bad in the beginning and I fixed it the best I could, but 'ends' does stand out a bit too much still. I oughta try arranging the rows a little. thanks : D
I know a bit about flash - if you need help I'm pretty much always online. In fact, other than InDesign, I'm pretty good with most of the adobe suite. (my dad teaches adobe products for his job.... )
Do you know what you want to do with the animation of it yet? I mean there's some simple stuff I'm seeing but also some more complicated stuff that would be really cool and probably not super difficult. I hope you upload it because I really want to see it when you're done!
woah that's cool I'm mostly self-taught what comes to Photoshop and Flash before I entered this school, but Indesign, Illustrator and Dreamweaver are unfamiliar. And what comes to after effects, bridge and fireworks I hardly know what are they meant for :'D
This will probably be very simple, as we only have about 5 hours to work with it. I wish I had the luxury of learning new tricks but time goes just by trying to remember what I've learned previously, it's been really ages since I made flash animations. It'll be interesting to make a typography animation though, this I haven't tried out before.
Lol, yeah. Photoshop and Flash are my purely self-taught programs. I had a week of Dreamweaver and Illustrator. Dad taught me the basics of Premier Pro and other video software and to be honest, I never use bridge or fireworks. Although my last exercise required that we use bridge to make a portfolio spreadsheet of thumbnails for photography. It was... interesting.
So, is the animation thing for like an exam? Or is that five hours just because that's all the class time given to you?
Sounds complicated, I'm not sure if I'm gonna need bridge or fireworks on my own works but I guess I have to learn for the sake of schoolworks. Of course, learning any programs must be useful somehow.
Nah not an exam, just practise animation that we go through together with the class, each one makes their own of course. Some of my classmates are already experts on flash though :'D

And the photography thing was really easy actually. Just like... three button clicks and BAM, portfolio thumbnails.
